Arctic Green Energy served as one of the key sponsors and active participant in the Arctic Circle Conference that was held in Reykjavik between 15-18 October 2015.
Among the activities organized and attended by Arctic Green Energy during this year´s assembly was a special breakout session on the successful Sino-Icelandic geothermal cooperation. The session was chaired by Mr. Stefan Skjaldarson, ambassador of Iceland to China while Mr. Zhang Zhaoping, President of Sinopec Star and Mr. Haukur Hardarson, Chairman and Founder of Arctic Green Energy, addressed the session, among others. Arctic Green Energy furthermore chaired a technical working meeting attended by the Director General of the National Energy Authority of Iceland along with key players from the Icelandic and Chinese geothermal industries.
The Arctic Circle is an annual open assembly that takes place on a yearly basis in Reykjavík, Iceland. The program is designed in collaboration with partnering organizations such as United Nations institutions, the Guggenheim Foundation and the Polar Research Institute of China, along with private companies such as Arctic Green Energy. The Arctic Circle facilitates working meetings across issues and organizations and provides a forum for discussions.
Keynote speakers during this year´s event included world leaders Francois Hollande – President of France, Olafur R. Grimsson, President of Iceland, Christiana Figueres – Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and Dr. Sultan Al Jaber – Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates. The event was also attended by high-level official delegations from China, Germany and S-Korea.
