The CEO of Arctic Green Energy, Mr. Sigsteinn Gretarsson, gave a presentation at a breakout session on geothermal energy during the United Nations 71st. session of the General Assembly in New York on 21 September.

The main theme of this year´s General Assembly is the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. During the special breakout session, Mr. Gretarsson spoke of geothermal energy and its potential in the global fight against air pollution and climate change. He introduced Arctic Green Energy´s successful China projects where the company has developed geothermal district heating networks that have saved over 5 million tons of CO₂ emissions to date.

The breakout session was moderated by Mr. Adnan Amin, Director General of IRENA and apart from Mr. Gretarsson, the Foreign Minister of Iceland addressed the meeting.
